## Sparking Greater Math Success

Decimals are an important part of the math curriculum in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades, but if you’re finding decimals to be a tough topic to explain to your child, you aren’t alone. (Let’s face it, it’s hard to cut a cake into thousandths, and it’s really hard to recall the steps for dividing decimals!)

Our math tutoring program takes the mystery out of learning decimals. With our decimals tutoring program, your child will learn how to apply decimals both in school and in everyday life, building his or her confidence and inspiring math success.

With our 3rd grade math tutoring, your child will learn how to model and write a decimal:

• For a shaded region representing tenths and/or wholes plus tenths
• For a shaded region representing hundredths

• Relate fractions to decimals
• Add or subtract decimals to the hundredths place with the same number of decimal places

With our 4th grade math tutoring, your child will learn how to:

• Understand the place value and identify the value of each digit for decimals to the hundredths place
• Read and write decimals to the hundredths place
• Identify the greater or lesser of two decimals
• Compare and order decimals to the hundredths place
• Write the decimal equivalent of a fraction with a denominator of 100
• Round decimals to the nearest whole number
• Add and subtract decimals to the hundredths place

With our 5th grade math tutoring, your child will learn how to:

• Identify the place value for decimals for tenths, hundredths, and thousandths
• Write the word name for a decimal and vice versa
• Order decimals to the thousandths
• Write the decimal equivalent of a fraction with a denominator of 1,000
• Round decimals to the nearest whole number, tenth, or hundredth
• Add decimals to the thousandths with and without regrouping

Your child also will learn how to multiply:

• A decimal by a whole number; by multiples of 10, 100, and 1,000; and by a decimal
• A whole number by a fraction
• Mixed numbers
